How I Mix Trash Into My Style And Business

Good morning Funky friends, today I will be sharing a little back story to: How I Mix Trash Into My Style And Funky Business.

It is no surprise to my family that I am doing such a thing or me. As far as I can remember, I have been making earrings out of recycled newspapers, old fabrics, and torn denim. But, who knew I could turn a childhood passion into a side hustle business. No, I will not sit here and say I knew that I could.

But, for years, I played around with my craft and even when I finished beauty school. I continued to make stuff and sell. But that side gig was short-lived because I had more important things that needed my attention. You know, things like raising kids and being married just took center in my life.

I love making stuff out of trash more than doing hair.

Honestly,  my hair, personal style, and business adventure all came together. You see, being a hairstylist, we are known to be into dressing up and wearing lots of jewelry. So, getting my cosmetology license worked out for me.

Now that my kids are older, I finally decided to venture out and find my soul purpose in life. And that’s when it hit me. Turn my trash into wearable treasures. There is a saying: One person’s trash is another man’s treasure. And that quote, my friend, is so true.

Before I started my business, I first played around with my style. I started incorporating my thrift finds with other clothes I would find at retail stores. Then I started buying jewelry jars and remaking jewelry with old broken pieces. My goal was always to find the uniquely weird and wacky items to make my wearable art. To take my Funky Grunge business farther, I started adding in all my gently used finds.

I never questioned if people would like my finds because I believe there is an audience for anyone whose not afraid to step out on their passions.

So, you can rest assure you will find most of my style from the thrift store and paired with something from the clearance racks. I am always digging for something crazy cool to wear and spice up my style.

When I am making trashy graffiti bags, I use up-cycled materials only. I try to play around with old-school nostalgia such as the ’70s, 80’s and 90’s vibe.

Some may say I am weird for that, but I say you only live once. So, why not play with your style and have some FUNKY fun.

Although my business is still relatively new, I have found my vibe in style, business, and life. Not to mention I will always be sharing my Funky Ole’ Thrift finds! And here is where I will be sharing my journey of turning trash into wearable treasures.

Here’s to wearing what the FUNK we want!

Until Next Time See Ya In A Funky Bit:)
