A Few Funky Things I’d Pair With An Ugly Denim Bag

As a creator, I finally figured something out. An Ugly Denim Bag does not need a perfect outfit to make sense. In fact, I think it looks better when the outfit feels a little irregular, a little random, and a little bit like a janky jean mess.
I am not a stylist. I am not a fashionista. I am definitely not someone who studies trends for a living. I am just a woman who likes a cute little twist when I get dressed. Some days that twist is a pair of sunglasses. Some days it is a colorful scarf. Some days it is a bag made from denim that probably had a whole life before it ever became part of an outfit.
That is the fun part about carrying an Ugly Denim Bag from Funky Grunge Boutique. It is not about dressing pretty. It is about adding personality to what you already wear. It’s a style helper that can stand alone by itself. It’s a performative bag that looks great on the red carpet.

The older I get, the more I see style as a canvas instead of a rulebook. I do not want to feel like I have to perform every time I leave the house. I just want to feel like myself. Sometimes that means jeans and a T-shirt. Sometimes that means boots in the summer. Sometimes that means tying a bright scarf around a handmade denim bag just because it made me smile.
So, I wanted to share a few funky little things I would pair with an Ugly Denim Bag. This is not fashion advice, because around here we are not doing all those rules. These are just simple pieces that can make a basic outfit feel a little more interesting.
The first thing has to be a good pair of sunglasses. I do not know what kind of magic sunglasses have, but they can change the whole mood of an outfit. You can have on a plain T-shirt, jeans, sneakers, and an Ugly Denim Bag, then add a fun pair of sunglasses, and suddenly the outfit looks like it’s ready to rip the runway.
That is why I love accessories. They do not ask you to do too much. They just step in and help.

The next thing I would pair with an Ugly Denim Bag is a colorful scarf. A scarf can do so much without being complicated. You can tie it around your neck, wear it in your hair, wrap it around the handle of your bag, or let it hang from the side for a little pop of color.
Give me an orange scarf, a yellow scarf, or something with a funky little print, and I am instantly happier. A scarf can take a denim bag and give it a whole new mood. That is one of my favorite ways to style a bag because it makes the same piece feel different without buying a whole new outfit.
Another thing I find quite funky is wearing shoes that do not always match the season. For me, that would be cowboy boots. Yes, I will wear boots in the summer, and no, I will not be thinking twice about it. If the outfit feels right, the boots are coming with me.
An Ugly Denim Bag already has that “I do what I want” kind of feeling, so pairing it with unexpected shoes makes sense to me. Boots, cow print shoes, chunky sneakers, platforms, or whatever shoe makes you feel like yourself. That is the point.
I also love a bright necklace or a stack of bracelets with denim. Denim already has texture, so adding beads, color, metal, or something handmade makes the outfit feel more personal. It does not have to match perfectly. Sometimes the pieces that do not match are the ones that make the outfit feel alive.
And of course, the bag matters.
A purse or crossbody bag with personality can change everything. That is why I love making Ugly Denim Bags. They are not here to be perfect little bags that sit quietly in the corner. They are made from old denim, scraps, patches, frays, and whatever funky detail makes the piece feel interesting.
Some bags may look janky, some may look extra, some may look like they have been through a few things and came out with character. That is the whole freaking point.
At the end of the day, an Ugly Denim Bag does not need a fancy outfit. It can go with your jeans, your basics, your boots, your scarf, your sunglasses, your jewelry, and whatever else makes you feel good that day.
It is nothing expensive, nothing complicated, nothing that requires you to become someone you are not.
Just a little funky something to help your outfit show out.
So tell me, what would you pair with an Ugly Denim Bag? A colorful scarf, bold earrings, cowboy boots, a thrifted jacket, or something completely unexpected?
Around here, the rule is simple.
Wear what the funk you want. And that’s on every funky thang.
